Design
With over 10 years of experience transforming ideas into visuals, I bring a blend of creativity and problem-solving to every project. My expertise spans print, digital, and packaging design, having collaborated with industry leaders like Google and Pacific Magazines (now Are Media). Currently, I am the lead designer for Lets Play Games Brand.
Develop
Passionate about connecting businesses with their customers and employees, I specialize in building custom web solutions for small startups. My programming stack includes Python, PostgreSQL, and React. While I can't disclose specifics due to the confidential nature of client projects, I'm currently developing a gamified learning management system for a private music school. This project aims to make learning engaging and effective, both within the school and for students practicing at home.
Learn
Lifelong learning is my mantra! I'm always seeking new knowledge, both for personal growth and professional development. When it comes to Python, I'm constantly honing my skills, ensuring I can stay at the forefront of this ever-evolving language.
Educate
Sharing knowledge is a joy. I am currently creating courses for Scrimba. In the past, I had the honour of empowering students to excel in Python and web development as a mentor and instructor with Team Treehouse. Additionally, I have a history of academic tutoring for web programming at the University of New England. I also share the gift of music as a piano teacher, fostering a love for the instrument in students of all ages, but specialising in developing piano methodologies for early childhood learners.
Research
I'm currently pursuing a PhD in Education at Monash University, focusing on the transformative potential of gamification in early childhood piano education. My research examines how a gamified Learning Management System can impact piano learners aged 3–8, specifically through the lens of Self-Determination Theory. By exploring the roles of autonomy, competence, and connectedness — the three core tenets of SDT — I aim to understand whether such systems can empower young students to practise more independently at home. In our increasingly digital world, I hope to shed light on how thoughtful gamification can support learning beyond the classroom, reducing the need for parental intervention and fostering a deeper, more self-motivated engagement with music.
